PPPM Bahasa Inggeris Form 2

PANDUAN PERKEMBANGAN PEMBELAJARAN MURID BAHASA INGGERIS TINGKATAN 2 (PPPM Bahasa Inggeris Form 2)

Below is a detail description of 'Deskriptor' for all the six bands in Form 2 English Language Syllabus


Band 1 :  Know fundamental skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Listening & Speaking Skills
Ask simple questions politely to obtain information and respond to questions appropriately.
Listen to and discriminate the consonants, vowels and diphthongs.

Reading Skills
Read familiar texts and scan adequately for details, sequence and reorganise ideas correctly.

Writing Skills
Write some simple sentences but lack accuracy.



Band 2 :  Understand meaning of words, phrase and sentence level.

Listening & Speaking Skills
Participate in oral interactions by talking appropriately.
Listen to and discriminate the past tense forms, plural forms and contractions.

Reading Skills
Read a variety of texts to scan adequately for details, sequence and reorganise ideas and find meaning of words (synonyms, antonyms, hypernyms).

Writing Skills
Express ideas in simple sentences on a limited range of topics using simple vocabulary with minimal use of writing conventions.



Band 3 :  Use knowledge acquired through  listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Listening & Speaking Skills
Understand messages and descriptions by identifying a few main ideas and supporting details, and answering oral questions correctly.
Listen to texts, recall and respond to the main ideas in an organized way.

Reading Skills
Read a variety of texts and correctly scan for simple details, sequence and reorganise ideas, find meaning of words (synonyms, antonyms, hypernyms), identify main ideas and supporting details.

Writing Skills
Write a text expressing one’s opinions using a range of simple sentence patterns with sufficient use of writing conventions and vocabulary.


 

Band 4 :  Apply knowledge acquired in a variety of  situations using some appropriate language conventions.

Listening & Speaking Skills
Participate in a conversation or a discussion on a particular topic by agreeing or disagreeing politely.
Listen and respond to a wide range of texts by recognizing the purpose of the text.

Reading Skills
Read a variety of texts and aptly scan for details, sequence and reorganise ideas correctly, find meaning of familiar words correctly (synonyms, antonyms, hypernyms), identify main ideas and supporting details adequately, identify cause and effect relationships to adequately complete a graphic organizer.

Writing Skills
Write a text on some topics expressing one’s opinions with a fair amount of creativity, sentence patterns, writing conventions and vocabulary.


Band 5 :  Demonstrate the ability to use language in a variety of situations using largely appropriate language conventions.

Listening & Speaking Skills
Recount and discuss events that took place using correct language functions in a face-to-face situation.
Listen and respond to a wide range of texts by comparing.

Reading Skills
Read a variety of texts and scan for details efficiently, sequence and reorganise ideas correctly, find meaning of words (synonyms, antonyms, hypernyms) competently, identify main ideas and supporting details correctly, identify cause and effect relationships to correctly complete a graphic organiser and make suitable predictions with supporting reasons.

Writing Skills
Produce a good piece of writing on a variety of topics expressing one’s opinions and thoughts with some creativity using a variety of sentence patterns, writing conventions and vocabulary.

 
Band 6 :  Appreciate literary works and present ideas critically in an exemplary manner.

Listening & Speaking Skills
Present ideas orally and confidently on a variety of topics for various academic, social and creative purposes.
Listen to and process information in a listening task effectively.

Reading Skills
Read a variety of familiar and unfamiliar texts and scan for details efficiently, sequence and reorganise ideas effectively, find meaning of words (synonyms, antonyms, hypernyms) confidently, identify main ideas and supporting details accurately, identify cause and effect relationships to correctly complete a graphic organiser, make appropriate predictions with supporting reasons and draw suitable conclusions.

Writing Skills
Produce a piece of writing on a variety of topics expressing one’s opinions creatively and critically using a wide range of sentence patterns, writing conventions and an extensive range of vocabulary.
